Ever feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders? Like the responsibilities and obligations you have are too much for you to handle and the relationships you have with people are starting to bring you down?
Everyone does. Well, at least I know that I do. Everything from school, to my extracurricular activities, work, and my relationships that I have with people can get really overwhelming. Its easy to let everything that you’re involved in consume you and its easier to forget to take care of yourself. Sometimes you have to know when to let things go. For those of us who are students, school is probably one of the most stressful things in the world; or at least it feels like that. We try to mantain good grades while still trying to have at least some kind of social life. Some of us have to juggle school with work and still try to have a social life. Whether that may be through social clubs and organizations or just making friends from the job, it’s a lot of work.
What about those friends that you’ve had forever? Those friends that are you know are absolutely no good for you but you say that “they’re like family” or “I’ve known them since I was little?” You sit there and try to rationalize in your mind that you can’t let them go because of some ridiculous reason. Same goes for family. You love them, but you can love them from a distance.
I guess, what I’m trying to say is: Its okay to let things go. If it’s not doing any good for you, let it go.
If there are people in your life that are bringing you down, let them go. Still be a person of integrity and take responsibility for the things and obligations that you have, and handle your situations with certain people as a civilized human-being.
Remember that there is a difference between letting go and quitting. I will assume that most of you guys are adults and can differentiate between the two.
It’s okay to take care of yourself. It really is. Besides, in some circumstances, letting go and letting God is the only option there is.
